[EN] “Managing a festival: Interview with Yeşim Gürer Oymak, Istanbul Music Festival director” published on theMagger on May 2013 | Translation in progress.
I was a little kid when I first met Istanbul Music Festival and classical music. Maybe that is why it is this festival that is the most special for me, that I await most impatiently and get most excited about every year. Istanbul Music Festival’s director since 2006, Yeşim Gürer Oymak, says she was just a little kid when she met the piano, as well. She loves her job and personally pays attention to festival audience from every age. She is an avant-garde and innovative festival director and one of the most polite people I have ever met. In a room full of classical music magazines and CD’s, the person I interviewed was not only a festival director but also was a dedicated listener who still kept the excitement that she had when attending her first classical music concert.
